A brave young lad of a mere 14 years of age, for reasons still unknown, stowwed himself away aboard a cattle boat leaving Paris France 1932. he eventually became a chef and worked in lumber camps along the rivers of quebec and the ottawa vally. his name has been recorded in various spellings as follows. Etienne / Achen / Achan / Achun / Aken Lavoie. He married Jim Mackey's daughter Mary Ann Mackey. They had 10 children in all. 7 girls & 3 boys. The three boys all decided to change the spelling of Lavoie to suite thier individuallity. The eldest son Peter born June 22, 1853 chose Levoy, William Henry born Sept 5 1854 chose Leavoy, and the youngest James Edward born march 31 1858 Chose Lavoy. Etienne raised his children in Combermere, Ontario situated along the madawaska river north of bancroft. Wiliiam married Janet McWhirter and when she Passed away he married Janet Hamilton Hynes. William followed the logging camps and raised his family in combermere,Bangor twsp. Hastings county on a farm next to his brothers. but eventually he followed two of his sons and a daughter to Matheson county.Peter eventually took over the family farm. he married Agnes Stewart / Stewert. I have in my research found many decendants of both William Henry and James Edward, but the search thus far for decendants of Peter Levoy & Agnes Stewart / Stewert has been fruitless. If anyone reading this knows of any Levoys that may be connected to this area / tree please respond.
