Is there anyone else out there researching BELL in and around Whiteparish WIL and possibly Sherfield English HAM in the period 1750 to 1865? I've got a lot of information from the Whiteparish registers but I suspect that some detail is missing and/or I'm making invalid connections. What I think I've established so far is based on the Whiteparish registers and census returns only:
Two sisters, Thirza Hannah/Anna/Annie (my GGrandmother) and Vashti BELL, married two brothers, John and Samuel BULL respectively, and moved to the Eling HAM area before 1871.
Thirza and Vashti were baptised in 1842/1844 to Joseph BELL (1) and Susan CHANT, who married in 1833. Joseph (1) and Susan also had Diane (bap. 1835) and Ellen (bap. 1838); and after the Eling move, Joseph (3), and Oliver.
Joseph (1) was born in 1812 to Joseph BELL (2) and Ann LIGHT; who married in 1797. Joseph (2) and Ann also had Mary (bap. 1797), Sarah (bap. 1802), Henry (born 1804), John (born 1806), Samuel (born 1809), and Ann (bap. 1815).
Joseph (2) was baptised in 1778 to Henry BELL and Mary xxxx. Henry and Mary also had Benjamin (bap. 1781), John (bap. 1784), Samuel (bap. 1789), Richard (bap. 1789), and James (bap. 1791)
Susanna (I assume this is Susan) was baptised in 1815 to John CHANT and Lucy/Luca/Lucia LIGHT, who married on 1 Jan 1800. John and Lucy also had John (bap. 1800), Elizabeth (born 1803), Lucy (born 1805), William (born 1808), and Mary (born 1811).
Although I'm primarily interested in details for Henry BELL and Mary xxxx, I'd also like to learn more about Susan/Susanna CHANT and Ann and Lucy LIGHT. I'm also aware that Whiteparish and Cowesfield are close to the HAM border and Sherfield English, and that BELL, CHANT and LIGHT are common surnames in the area. Please contact me if there is any link with your research.
