Barbara Ann Light, 53, originally from the Beech Creek community in Hawkins Co TN, went home to be with her Heavenly father Sunday, April 25, 2010, after a courageous battle with cancer.
She had lived and taught high school in Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania County, VA, and in Locust Grove for the past 33 years.
She graduated from East Tennessee State University with a B.S. in Education. She was working on her doctorate degree at Nova Southeastern College. She loved to travel and teach.
She worked at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg as well as teaching. She was a member of Mount Carmel Free Will Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her father, Harry Lee Light, in 2008.
She is survived by her mother, Susie Light, of Church Hill, TN; two brothers, Karl Light of Kingsport, TN, and Phil Light of Telford, TN; an aunt, Patsy Morelock of Kingsport, TN; two uncles, Lee Morelock of Jonesborough, TN, and Scott Morelock of Morristown, TN; a host of cousins; many, many friends; and a special friend, Michael Snelson of Locust Grove, VA.
As per her wishes, Barbara was cremated.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., Sunday, May 16, 2010, at Mt. Carmel Free Will Baptist Church.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., at the church with the Rev. Jack Morelock officiating.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mt. Carmel Freewill Cemetery Fund.
