Pennington Gap, VA -Kenneth E. Light, 86, passed away Sunday, August 5, 2012, at Lee Regional Medical Center.
Born April 15, 1926, he was a lifelong resident of Lee Co VA. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during WWII. He retired from C&P Telephone in 1985. He was also a Real Estate Broker with Fannon Land and Auction Company in previous years. He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Pennington Gap and served as secretary for many years in the United Methodist Men's Club. He was also a faithful member of the Pennington Gap Lions Club,and a long time member of the Miles Masonic Lodge # 165.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ernestine Crowell Light, on February 17, 2004; a sister, Addie Zion Shoate; and one brother, Bill Light.
Survivors include one daughter, Selina Light, of Pennington Gap, VA; two sons, Kenny Light and wife Kathy, of Woodway, VA, and Kyle W. Light and wife Monica, of Coeburn, VA; grandchildren, Christopher Light and Carol, of Woodway, VA, Amanda Welch and Joe, of Woodway, VA, Hannah Light, Coeburn, VA, and Haley Mullins of Coeburn, VA; and one great grand son, Logan Christopher Light, of Woodway, VA.
The family will recieve friends on Tuesday evening, August 7, 2012, at the First United Methodist Church in Pennington Gap, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m., with Rev. Roger Mathess and Rev. Nancy Hobbs officiating. Special music will be by Sid Fannon.
Military graveside services will be held on Wednesday, August 8, 2012, at Lee Memorial Gardens at 11 a.m., conducted by The Wise County Veterans Organizations and Virginia National Guard Honors Team.
