I just found this post 10 years later.I have an ancestor named Timothy Light who married Susan Amanda Dykes in 1851.Timothy was from Hawkins, Tennessee, but his parents are unknown. He moved to Missouri sometime around 1850-51, but is listed on an 1850 Tennessee census record as living in Washington Co., Tenn.
Amanda's parents were William Dykes II and Jane Genney Gallemore.
Timothy and Susan Amanda lived around Rolla, Missouri, and had several children--including my great grandmother Mary Emily Light.
As for the Joyce name, I am descended from Elijah and Catherine Moorman Joyce.Their daughter Susan Elizabeth married George Marion West in Franklin Co., MO in 1852.George and Susan Elizabeth had several children before he died in 1864.Among them was my great grandfather Luke J. Paris West.
Luke's mother, Susan Elizabeth, sent him to Phelps Co.(Rolla) to live with her uncle Leftridge Joyce and his family when Luke was about 11 years old.In 1870, she was living next to her parents with two of her children. Two of her children were living with her parents. And Luke was apparently sent off to live with her father's brother.Because of this, he met Mary Emily Light, whom he married in 1879.
If any of this fits the information in your papers, I would like to know more about it.After all this time, are the papers still available?
