Thank you for your reply.I looked at earlier posts on this forum. It seems that people were looking for the parents of Timothy Light early on, but no one has replied with information as to who his parents were.
It is true that Timothy Light and Michael Light married sisters.Eliza's and Amanda's parents (William & Jenny Dykes II) lived in Greene County, TN after they were married.Eliza Dykes was born there.By 1840, William Dykes II had moved his family to Hawkins, TN, probably because his mother had died and he inherited the land that his father had left to her (info in his father's will).Eliza and Michael Light were married in Hawkins County; have marriage record.
Susan Amanda was born in Hawkins County.I have the info that William Dykes II moved his family to Phelps Co., Missouri in 1850 to take possession of a 640 grant of land he received because of his service in the War of 1812.Susan Amanda either met Timothy Light in Missouri or knew him beforehand. They were married in 1851 in Crawford County.
1850 and 1860 census records show Michael Light in Crawford Co., and Phelps Co., Missouri respectively. However, Eliza apparently died before 1860 as she is not listed in that census.Crawford Co., Maries Co., and Phelps Co. are all close to each other, and Lights may be found in all three.
So far, however, I have not found a Jessie Light.I visited the Macedonia Cemetery in Phelps Co. last summer. It is on the border of Maries County.Descendants of Timothy and Amanda Dykes Light are buried there. These were intermarried with three or four other families, and I am distantly related to many of them. But I don't think any "Light" descendants from other families are buried there.
There is also a "Light" cemetery somewhere in the countryside in Phelps County.Probably has a number of Light descendants buried in it.Most cemeteries are listed by the Phelps Co. Historical Society. The Macedonia Cemetery, however, was not listed anywhere and I had a little trouble finding it.It is a private cemetery, maintained by descendants of family members buried there.
There are still many members of the Light family living around Rolla, according to a friend of mine who grew up there.
