I am seeking information on two brothers, Russel Light (1803-1864) and Blewford Light 1807-1846) who migrated from Kentucky with their mother (and possibly their father) to Harrison Co., IN, in the early 1800's.They moved from Harrison Co., IN, to Knox Co., IN, c1820 and 1835 respectively where both remained until their deaths.
Family tradition has it that Russel was born in Campbell Co., KY, while Blewford was born in Indiana.I have not verified this.
Blewford Light married Catharine Richard.According to the 1840 Knox Co., IN, Federal Census and an article written about James Light in a Wallace, Lincoln Co., NE, historical publication in 1920, four children were born to Blewford & Catharine; Russel, James, and two older sisters (names unknown). In the book, "History of Knox and Daviess Counties, Indiana" originally publication in 1886, by The Goodspeed Publishing Co., and reissued by the Vincennes (Knox Co., IN) Historical Society in 1966, 1973, and 1981, on Page 74, it reads, "James Light, an early settler, was supposed to have been drowned."
I am particularly interested in contacting descendants of John W. Light, Sr. (1770-1843), who was the son of Lazarus & Elizabeth (Langdon) Light. It is said that John W., Sr. died in Pulaski Co., KY.I am told he had children John W., Jr., James, Henry, Nancy, and William.I wonder if this James might be the father of Russel and Blewford?Did any of these children migrate to Harrison Co., IN.?
I have been told that these two brothers, Russel and Blewford, are the sons of John Light, born c1770 in Halifax, VA, who's parents were Jacob & Ann (Russel) Light originally of Halifax Co., VA, then Amelia Co., VA, and then Anderson Parish, South Carolina. These researchers claim that Russel and Blewford also have a sister, Elizabeth and another brother, John.I cannot find proof of this connection! Can anyone help?
I will gladly share any information I have with other Light researchers.
