Dear Light cousins, A 100 page article and supplement called The Lytes of Lytescary by the late Henry Churchill Maxwell Lyte was published in 1892, Part II in Procedings of the Somersetshire Archaeological and Naural History Society.Also called the New Series, Vol XVIII, 1892 Part II.A rare volume. This article covers the Lyte history from 1256 AD up to the baptisms of the immigrant generations that came to Barbados and Virginia. A delightful guidebook called Lytes Cary Somerset, by the National Trust, 1998 has 32 pp plus photgraphs and drawings in black and white.I bought copies at Lytessary (which is open a few day a week in the summer. Family Records by Burke contains referencees to Col John Sidney, of Norfolk Va and to George Huntley, in laws of the Lytes who appear in early Virginia Records. A website at the Virginia State Library has records under Huntly and Sidney. JSTOR is a website with complete articles for some major enealogical and historical publications. (i.e. search for John Sidney and varients) There is an important book showing coats of arms from our chapel at Lytescary of in laws. Surname file at Family History Library on film. The Jewel is in the British Museum.The two great pedigrees are at the Somerset Record Office at Taughton. I hope that a copy of the 1892 article gets donated to a library in each of the states.
