Granville Henderson Light was born in Hawkins County, Tn June 1, 1860 and died January 8, 1923 in Sullivan County, Tn. He is burried in Morrison Cemetery, Beech Creek, Hawkins County, Tn.I have sent for his death certificate but have not found it yet.He appears for the first time on Hawkins County Census, at age 5 in the home of David and Polly Light and then the next census in Hawkins County, 1870 in the home of Bayless and Mary Light. He married Sarah Amanda Hickman on June 7, 1878 in Washington County, Tn.Sarah was the daughter of James Nathanial Hickman and Mary "Polly" Light of Sullivan County, Tn. The children of Granville Henderson "Hen" Light and Sarah Amanda Hickman Light are: Daniel Carter Light born October 31, 1896 Thomas Light born Abt. 1901 Nathanial Light born August 27, 1890 Ellie Light born May 2, 1878 Fannie Virginia Light Molly Light James D. Light born 1880 Julia Light born 1888 This Henderson Light is the one nicknamed Hen or Henny and had a cripple leg.He was not the son of John and Jane Morrison Light either.I am not yet sure who his parents are, but by looking at the census I feel that he was the son of David and Mary "Polly" Light and that Mary remarried to Bayless after the death of David Light who never again appeared on the census. There is a story which has been handed down over the generations on this family.I will share the story, but will ask you to keep in mind that I don't know where the story links and what generation the link is in.Pap said (Pap would be Daniel Carter Light, son of Granville Henderson and Sarah Amanda) that our family are not actually Lights. (Sence there are so many Light's marrying Light's, we are, but they are refering to one branch here). There was a Payne who came to the area and had no family, so he moved in with a Light and over time took the Light name as his own. Maybe over time this puzzle might or might not be solved, but anyone researching this line needs to remember that this story is connected to Granville Henderson Light branch somewhere.
