Back in late 1999 & for about a year there was a string of messages about a family(s) named Light.Around 1990 I actually met a man named Light who ran a bed & breakfast in Arlington, Phelps Co.,MO, the site of my Harrison ancestor's pioneer home.(That's near Jerome on Rt.44.)I don't know if he's still there or not.I was researching Harrisons & didn't know there could be any Lights in my family. He helped me find my Harrison burial ground. We saw him a couple of times; once he was having a family reunion that was just winding up, & I felt that he was somehow connected with my Harrison-Duncans since there were some of those people at the reunion.Next time I go to MO, I'll see if he's still there.Just thought you'd be interested.
Have any of you heard of a PAULINA LIGHT, b. 1842-1846, who m. JAMES MELVIN DAVIS of the Bear Creek area of MO (I think that's in Phelps or Laclede Co.)?They had about 7 children.I have no parents listed for her, and would like to have that information and anything else you know.Or is there such a person; could my data be wrong?
One other LIGHT question: James M. Davis, b. 1781-1789 MD, was said to have m. a DENT, either in MD or in (Madison Co.?) VA.This had to have been before 1809, as he m. Sarah Harrison 1809.Widowed Sarah Harrison ended up in Laclede Co., MO, & was living with her son George W. Davis in the 1860 census.THE QUESTION IS: could this DENT wife really have been named LIGHT and have been confused with the Pauline Light who m. the above James Melvin Davis?
Can anyone give me a clue? Elinore (Mayfield) Olsen
