Peggy, I just came across your postings. Henry Lightner (Heinrich Leitner ) was my great, great grandfather. His daughter Elizabeth Lightner was my great grandmother. She married Richard McCulloh and their son, my grandfather was named Henry Lightner McCulloh after his grandafather. My grandfather, donated the drums used by Henry in the War of 1812 and by his father John before him in the Revolutiony War to the Flag House Museum in the early 1960's. Before that time, they were kept in the attic of his home and my sisters, cousins and I used to go up to look at ( and play ) them.
Are you a member of the DAR? As a direct descendent of a Revolutionary War patriot, you are elligible to be a member. My mother and I , along with others in our generations are members of the Baltimore Chapter. We only recently became members. If you aren't a member, and are interested, I'd be happy to help you in this area.
I would also like to talk with you more about our common ancestor. We may each have information that would help fill in the blanks for the other. My mother has Henry's cemetery deed and the location of his grave. We have talked about having his grave marked, if it isn't already. We haven't visited the grave as yet.
