Hi, Jack. I keep seeing your name pop up in related forums, so we may be related.
I copied your post here, which says:
Looking for Birth information on Mary Likens B?, died 1852 Orange Washington Co, married 10/20/1819 Crawford Co, IN to Isom Gwin Jr B 1797 Lincoln Co, TN, died 1887 Orange, Washington Co, IN.
Several of us have been combining and refining our work on the Isham/Isom Gwin family, who is gggg-grandfather to most of us.
I personally believe his parents were Richard Gwin andSarah Chesley who lived near Jamestown, born and married in the mid 1700's. We all believe that this Isham was born in Virginia and married Mary Canterbury in Montgomery Co.around 1785 or so.
All evidence points to Isham and Mary moving to Crowson's Cove (Sevier Co.), TN, where he received a land grant, held slaves, and began pastoring churches. They raised at least ten children there. But when the evil of slavery became an issue, his family divided.
The two oldest sons moved to Alabama before 1820 and continued to hold slaves.Isham released his slaves, and he and the rest of his family moved to (Crawford Co.) Indiana about the same time.
One of Isham's sons, also name Isham, is (we believe) the Isham for whom you are looking, who married Mary Likens (and who may have married first Betsy Snowden).
However, of all of the older Isham's ten children, this one is the one of whom we know the least. You mention Lincoln Co., TN, as his birthplace, so I'm interested in what leads you there. I'm also very interested in where you got his dates of birth, marriage, and death.
I wish you'd have a look at our page for the older Isham and letus know what you think. It's at:
