I am attempting to find the ancestors of LEONA (CLARK) LILE who married BUEL LILE in 1928.I have no doubt that they were married in Pope County, AR.
LEONA CLARK's parents were ABRAHAM and LONA (MEYERS) CLARK.ABRAHAM, LEONA's father, was the grandson of ELIZABETH MCCLAIN and JOSIAH CLARK who had moved to Pope County, AR from Washington Co., PA around 1827. ELIZABETH and JOSIAH CLARK are buried in the Brock Cemetery in Pope County, AR.
LEONA and BUELL LILE had an only son, JAMES "JIMMY" LILE, who married, MARILYN MATHIS, in 1955.JIMMY LILE became a well-known custom knife maker and went into this business fulltime in 1968.
This information was taken from the book, History of Pope County Arkansas, Volumn I which was first published in 1979.The article on the Clark family is found on page 188 -138 and the information was submitted by Leona Lile.
I don't know if Leona or any of the family is still living, if not, there is bound to be others who are interested in researching this Clark family.
I'm interested in communicating with anyone who has information pertaining to my ancestors who are the CLARK's, MORRISON's and MCCLURE's.All lived in Pope County, AR at one time and the families are intermarried.
Perhaps there are sibling offsprings still living there, as well as other parts of the country, whowould like to share information--if so, please let me hear from you.
