Re-reading Ron Liles posts regarding James G. Lisles, a couple of questions came to mind.
According to the 1860 Twiggs Co., GA census, James G. would have been born in 1815 in South Carolina.A Nixon Lesles was b. SC on the 1850 Dooly Co., GA census and was enumerated in the H/H of Pleasant H. Key.Also, listed was a George Washington Edmondson who was the son of Thomas and Margaret Lyles Edmondson who were on the 1850 Dooly Co., GA census.
My question is this:since Nixon and George Washington were not found on subsequent censuses in the H/H of Pleasant H. Key (who did move to Red River Co., TX and then back to Dooly), who is this Nixon Lesles and what was he doing in the Key household?I could not find him in the CSA files. He was 19 in 1850.Was his name Nixon Lesley Key or was a form of the Lisles/Liles/Lyles surname part of his name, indicating ties to the Lyles, etc. name?
Since Margaret Lyles Edmondson of Dooly Co., GA (b. SC) was b. 1814, is it possible that James G. and Margaret were brother and sister?Margaret married an Edmondson (Thomas) and James G. married an Edmondson (Nancy, whose family I have not identified yet).I did not find James G. listed as a child of Ephriam Liles.
