My mother's Bradley line from Northeast Georgia and Western South Carolina was said to be related to Abraham Lincoln, in materal once housed in the Archives in Atlanta. Later I found the story of Abraham Lincoln and John C. Calhoun, whose Clemson relatives lived across the border from us. Then I matched someone on FTDNA Family Finder who was a Calhoun descendant. Someone needs to find a male descendant of Abraham Lincoln and compare it to a male Calhoun in the line of John C. Calhoun. The Calhouns were among the founding families of Ninety-Six, South Carolina including the Cunninghams and the Maysons and Goudes of my ancestor Col. James Mayson, who fired the first shots on the British at Star Fort, SC in 1775. Col. Mayson later took the land of his neighbor Pigtail Cunningham on the Saluda River, specifically the Peach Hill Plantation next to Col. Mayson's Glasgow Plantation.
