I'm Susan Grabek, admin. of Group 2.The Group 2 Lindsey's all descend from the Lindsey family that lived in old Frederick Co., VA from about 1730 to 1780.We have a lineage proved to Edmund Lindsey Sr., b. 1697, who married Elizabeth Beasley in St. George's Parish, Maryland in 1725.Edmund Lindsey Sr. and his presumed brother, John Lindsey (b. ca. 1700) moved to Frederick Co. ca. 1733.They are well documented in land and court records in Frederick Co., as are their children.Another presumed brother (or son), Thomas Lindsey (b. ca. 1720) also appeared in many records interacting with John and Edmund.John and Thomas both left wills, and neither mentioned a son named George.Edmund Sr. did not leave a will, and no probate has been found for him, but because we have a Group 2 lineage proved to him, we know he could not have been George's father. These are the only 3 Lindsey men who lived in Frederick Co., VA in 1744 who would have been old enough to have fathered George. There was an unrelated James Lindsey who lived in Winchester who died in 1799, also leaving a will which did not name a son George.
So I am curious about George, who seems to have moved to Anson Co., NC at about the age of 20.How is it known that he was born in Frederick Co., VA?Is there a family bible that states his birthplace?Could he have made a deposition for a pension stating his birthplace?
Are you certain he was born in Frederick Co., VA?
Just curious! Thanks for any information you might have about George and his origins.
