I am researching Nathan Lindsey (7 Mar 1810 - 10 Jul 1889), born in South Carolina. He appeared in the 1830 Fed Census in Lowndes Co, Georgia. In 1832 he was drawn in the State of Georgia Cherokee Land Lottery, and I believe he appeared as N. Lindsy in the 1840 Fed Census in Floyd Co, Georgia.I have been unable to locate him in the 1850 Federal Census. However, in the 1860 Fed Census in Lafayette Co, Florida he appeared as Nathan Lindsey, with Amy (wife?), Newel, Martha, Eliza, Mary Ann, Georgeann, and Ella. The next household was Henry, Nancy, Virginia, and Sarah Lindsey.Nathan remarried in 1864 to a Mary J. Slater in Hamilton County, Florida, and I believe he appeared in the 1870 Fed Census in Hamilton County as Martin Lindsay. He and Mary J. had three children named Laura J., Ada, and Benjamin Hampton. In 1880 he appeared in the Fed Census in Suwannee Co, Florida with this family.Any information you may have would be greatly appreciated.I am looking for answers to 1) Who were his parents 2) Where in South Carolina was he born (father and mother from North Carolina) 3)Any help identifying where Amy Lindsey or Nathan Lindsey are buried.Any other family knowledge you may have. Incidentally, John F. Lindsey ( Mar 8, 1846 - Feb 11, 1874) in the 1860 Fed Census of Lafayette County, Florida was my great great grandfather.
