Lindsleys of Ohio and New Jersey
I'm looking to connect with other Lindsleys in Ohio who descend from Daniel and Nancy (Graham) Lindsley. From a marriage record, I know they married in 1834 in Essex County, NJ.Sometime after, they moved to Clinton, Tate Township, Ohio, and are first listed in the 1850 census there.
Their children, as per this 1850 census were:
Mary Elizabeth b. 1835
William E b. 1836
Wallace Nathaniel b. 1839
George Graham b. 1840 (my 2nd great grandfather)
Wheeler Daniel b. 1845
Lydia E. b. 1848
Albert b. 1850
(And other records indicate they had a Thomas Edward b. 1854.)
My main reason for believing this Daniel descends from the Orange, Essex, New Jersey Lindsleys is because of the story my father told about the first Lindsleys, a father a several sons who settled in the Orange, NJ area.Later, when I began to research our ancestry, I indeed found Lindsleys who settled in Orange, Essex and were among the original Mountain People who had left the New Haven, Connecticut Puritan colony (for religious-freedom reasons according to one history I found.)
Any information that would link my Daniel to his direct ancestors in Essex, NJ would be greatly appreciated.
Bev
