MY LINGO FAMILY ARE FRENCH HUGUENOTS AND THE NAME WAS ORIGINALLY d'Linqueaux Americanized to theLINGO FAMILY and my family came ro Lincoln County, Tennessee from Sussex County, Delaware and then on to Randolph County, Missouri in 1829 and they started the Eldad Cumberland Presbyterian Church near Huntsville, Mo. James Stuart Lingo m. as his 2nd wife Sarah Smith and his sonJudge Samuel Sanders Lingo, child of James S. Lingo's first marriage ro unknown wife, also m a wife by the name of Sarah Smith. James Stuart Lingo had 3 children by his first wife who was 10 years older than James was and died early. Mary who m. Judge Joseph Turner and who built Eldad Samuel Sanders Lingo who also m. a Sarah Smith. He was a prominent Judge and the town of Lingo, Mo (Macon County, Mo.)is named for him. Boy Lingo but nothing is know of him except he was mentioned in a newspaper article about James. Then James m. Sarah Smith, d/o of Isaac Smith and Mary Hoover as his 2nd wife;and had Sarah E./Lee Smith Lingo/Nancy Stewart Lingo/Elizabeth who m. Shelton Epperly of Randolph County, Mo/Eliza, no information/Judith who m. John Blew and lived Rand. Cty. Mo/Isaac Harlan Lingo b. 1824/Pelepope Lingo m.Douglas W. Baker of Eldad buried at Eldad/Margaret Lucinda Lingo m. Willis Blew in Randolph Cty, Mo/Child #13 was Martha E. Lingo m. William Carol Holman of Eldad and these are my ancstors.They both have readible stones and I decorate their graves every Memorial Day. The Eldad church was rebuilt later and is still in use today and it has never been locked all these years.So if I have any cousins out there that descend from any of these 13 children please notify me.James Stuart Lingo was the only person in the church that had a new testament. They really had some Holy Ghost meetings when the church first started and they said Heaven came down and touched their soles.James Lingo and his wife Sarah gave an acre of land for the cemetery of Eldad Church.
