Shuffling through some files looking for something else I came upon some material I copied from www.familysearch.org in 2002 when they made the 1880 census available. The entry is "204. Vachel W. Linthicum--1880 United States Census/Maryland Other Gender: Male Birth <1852> MD" I don't know the significance of the '204', probably just the number on the "L" file. What is important is that the 1880 census could be expanded for an individual giving Name, Sex, Source of Information, Birth year, Birthplace, Age, Occupation, Marital Status, Race, Head of Household, Relation, Father's birthplace, Mother's birthplace and Souce information: Census place, Family history library film, NA Film number and Page number. Might not be part of your family but if you do have someone who was alive in 1880 their information may be in the census data and give clues to others.
