I am very interested to learn you are the great granddaughter of Sarah Barlow born 1854 who was the sister of Edward Partington. I am the great great grandson of Edward Partington. My maternal grandmother being the daughter of Beatrice Knowles who was the second daughter of EP. Beatrice died giving birth in 1897.

SUMMARY OF ENQUIRY
Edward PARTINGTON (Knighted in 1912 and created Lord Doverdale in 1916) was born 1837 to parents David LIVESEY (Blacksmith - born in 1812 and later went to America) and Sarah (Sally) PARTINGTON - apparently being born out of wedlock.
This Sarah PARTINGTON was baptized at Rochdale Parish Church 2 February 1815 and died in 1889, the daughter of Solomon and Molly PARTINGTON of Whittle.
Edward PARTINGTON married Sarah HOWARTH daughter of Thomas HOWARTH 18 April 1860. She was born 16 May 1839 and died in 1917.
Sarah Partington above named allegedly had a further daughter by David LIVESEY named Emma born 1839 (1841 Census) and possibly a daughter Rachel born 1842 by a Daniel HARDMAN.
Sarah PARTINGTON later married a William BARLOW by whom she had had four children Betsey born 1845, Mary born 1848, John born 1850, Sarah born 1854 and Alice born 1858 (1861 Census)
When Lord Doverdale died in 1925 he is said to have had four sisters still living
