My descent is Nicholas (for whom I give the dates 1578-1651), Lt. Simon (1632-1717), Joshua (1671-1742), Darius (1729-1796), Rev. Jared (1767-1846), Betsey Lobdell (1810-1894), Capt. Darius Jared (1836-1889), Charles E. Sr (1861-1949), Lt. Charles E. Jr. (1902-1974), me (b. 1937).My g-grandfather Darius Jared was apparently not the son of Betsey's eventual husband Daniel Thew (1792-1871) but of a British traveller in NY State 1833-35, a man named Edward John Trelawny (1792-1881), but I have been unable to have a DNA check.Nicholas was the son of William (1535?-1588), son of Nicholas (1500?-1546), son of William (1460?-1530?), son (I think) of Stephen (1430?-1500?) of Horsey, nr Eastbourne, Sussex, where the family goes back to at least 1296. -- Jared
