Summary of contents PARTIES William BAKER of Shipton under Wychwood, Oxfordshire. Farmer. Thomas Lock SIMPER of Little Farringdon, Oxfordshire. Miller. Caroline Mary PRESTON the wife of William Cooper PRESTON of 23 Pier Road, Erith, Kent. Tailor. Althea Louisa LOCK of Little Farrington, Oxfordshire. Spinster. William PAINTIN of Bradwell, Oxfoprdshire. Farmer.
SUBJECT The Indenture relates to 5 cottages in the Parish of Kencot, Oxfordshire, which are being sold to William Paintin for £105. This had been the property of Thomas Lock who left it to his wife Louisa for her lifetime, but failed to appoint an Executor.
Thomas Lock died in 1888 and then Louise died but without ever having been granted Administration. Administration was then given in 1889 to Thomas Lock Simper, who was a son of Thomas Lock, but born before his marriage to Louisa. Thomas Lock also had 2 daughters, Althea Lock and Caroline Preston. We are also told that in 1869, Thoms Lock had mortgaged the property to William Baker for £200, which sum is still owing.
Accordingly, the sum of £105 is being paid to William Baker and the balance appears to be still owing.
