Hello Ken, Elizabeth Only just started looking at my Lock[e] line, so haven't seen your message before now. Mine is Frances, born about 1751, m. John Rudd, 5 MAY 1772Cockley Cley, Norfolk, buried 5 Sep, 1821, Saham Toney.
Don't yet have a baptism. Neither the IGI or FreeReg have any outstanding candidates. Any help there would be welcome.
I can clear up the IGI Sarah Elmer record. She married Ralph WHITFIELD on 21 Oct. 1801. at Barton Bendish All Saints, and was buried (as Sarah WHITFIELD) at Barton Bendish St. Andrew, August 24th 1808. Age 35. So doesn't look like your Sarah Elmer. That IGI record is very confusing.
I don't yet know whether my Frances belongs to the Larling Locks, but it is a possibilty, so I've looked into them a bit. The magazine "Notes and Queries", s1-VII (190) 607 (1853)has this:- "John Locke, baptized 17th December, 1716, in the parish of Coney Weston, was buried in Larling parish, county of Norfolk, 21st July, 1823. He is registered as 110 years of age. He and his family always said that he was three years old when he was baptized. I saw and conversed with him in Jan. 1823. F. W. J." This was in reply to an article on Longevity in a previous issue. But!! The NBI has a burial of a John Lock in Coney Weston in 1789, aged 73, which fits the 1716 baptism exactly. So, there were 2 John Locks, both, christened about the same time.
