In 1760's.....( 1 ) Thomas Lockerby was deported from Dumfries Scottland, through London England, aboard ship......landing in Virginia.
YES, Thomas was charged with the theft of ( 1 ) pair of Braies or pants, and ( 1 ) pairof stockings or socks. ( DOCUMENTED )
Some 20 years after landing in the states, he was mentioned in the census of the 89th district census of 1790's - which later became Laurens County, S.Carolina. with his wife, Biddy.....

As for being cattle thieves ?From the stories I have heard from several Scottish families.....that was just astandard way of life for most Scottish clans.Continueing the practice here in the states really wouldn't have surprised me alot.
