Funeral services for Evelyn Oneta Ashey, 76, of Austin are May 8, 2002, at Briggs-Gamel-Wilcox Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Reid Schaub officiating. Burial will follow at Hines Chapel Cemetery near Adamsville.
Mrs. Ashey died May 3 at Regency Village Care Center in Austin.
She was born June 17, 1925, in Sumervell County, to Olar W. and Flora Elizabeth Rhoades.
She was married to Glynn Mitchell on Nov. 3, 1945, and he preceded her in death on May 22, 1967. She then married Joseph Ashey on Sept. 26, 1970, and he preceded her in death in 1999.
Mr. Ashey was a teacher's aide for Austin State School. She was a Baptist.
She had lived in Austin for the past two years, and prior to that had lived in Lampasas for five years. Survivors include one son, David Mitchell, and wife, Susan, of Austin; one daughter, Linda Honn, and husband, Michael, of Fort Worth; one brother, Worth Wren, of Lampasas; five grandchildren, Kimberly Honn DeBlois, Donna Honn Moore, Benjamin J. Mitchell, Dave Glynn Mitchell and Jacob Michael Mitchell; six great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by six brothers, Herchel Wren, Wilson Wren, O.W. "Dub" Wren, Billy Wren, Buddy Wren, Bob Wren, and by two sisters, Geraldine Wren and Della Mae Loden.
