My husband's grandfather, Peter Lohmann, lived in Marschkampdeich, Neuenfelde, Germany. My husband is named for his grandfather. My husband's father, Henry (Heinrich), was born 8 Nov 1894 in Marschkampdeich, Neuenfelde. I know very little to nothing about the geography of Germany. I suppose that this area is called Prussia(?). The family lived in this part of Germany all of their lives. The house my father-in-law lived in as a child was already over a hundred years old at that time. Other siblings of Henry were Ludwig, who was older than Henry, Martha, also older, and Anna, slightly younger than Henry. There were others, but I don't know their names. These were the names Henry mentioned most. My husband met his grandfather, Peter Lohmann, when he went with his parents to Germany. His grandmother had already died at that time. Peter died about 1953/54 in Neuenfelde. One of Henry Lohmann's sisters (Annie, I believe) was married to a Schou in Neuenfelde, and they had a son also named Peter, who drowned on New Year's Eve about 1972/73 in Neuenfelde, when his car plunged into the river. I believe he was an only child. If anyone has any information on this Lohmann family, I'd love to hear from you and share. Also, if anyone can suggest how to go about finding out more on this family in Germany, I could sure use your help! I'm new to genealogy and know very little about researching for relatives in Germany. Since there are only four people left in the immediate Lohmann branch of this family, that we are aware of in the US, I'd like to learn about the extended family, both in the US and in Germany.A huge thanks in advance for any and all help!!
