I am Barbara Lohn, Susan Williams' sister. Our father was John Lohn, the youngest son of Anton and Clara Lohn. There are several branches of the Lohn family in the Ohio area. Our father was born in the Cleveland, OH area. His parents were from Budapest and came to Cleveland in the early 20th century. When they were living in Hungary, they lived for some time in area that was occupied by Germany and they were made to speak German. They lived in Lakewood, OH where my grandfather had a grocery store/butcher shop. They later moved to Cleveland, where they had a restaurant and a gas station on the West Side.
I currently live in Canton, OH. There are several of my first cousins in OH.
My Uncle Tony (Anton S. Lohn) was the oldest brother.Frank was the middle brother. There was also an older sister who died shortly after birth. This was before any of the boys were born.
My grandfather had a brother, Peter Lohn.He had 2 sons, Francis Joseph (Joe) and Godfrey.Joe is dead. His widow, Helen, died in October of last year. Godfrey is living in California and is in poor health.
Tony and his wife(Mae)had 4 children: James, Kathleen, Edward and John. Frank and his wife (Ann) had 7 children: Frank, Jr., Thomas, Patricia, William, Robert, Mary and Judy.My parents (John and Jeanne) had 7 children: Barbara, Jerome (deceased), Susan, Timothy, Nancy, Jane & Patrick.
I don't know too much of the family genealogy.Godfrey Lohn has done a lot of genealogical research. I'd love to hear from other Lohns.
