From the book, "Voyage Through Vonda and Vicinity", it states that François-Xavier Loiselle of Vonda was born in Richelieu, Québec, on December 10, 1862.When he was 18 years old he and his older brother, Louis, decided to go west, arriving in Brandon, Manitoba, in 1880.They then moved 35 miles west of Brandon to the area later called Oak Lake Municipality.After living and working there for 6 years, François-Xavier Loiselle went back to Richelieu, Québec, where he married Alma Robert in 1886.They then moved back to Oak Lake Municipality.Alma Robert died in Vonda, Saskatchewan in 1929 and François-Xavier Loiselle died in Vonda in 1958.
