Jacob Lawless and John Lollis married to Agnes
As I read over many of the family histories concerning William Lawless and John Lollis / Lawless married to Agnes I found many of it seemed to repeat the same information.
My great aunt was the keeper of the family history until I took it over some years before her death. As I search Morman records and other sources I found there was some confusing information as she reported it.For instance, the fact all the Lollis's were from Ogalthorpe Georgia.Knowing our families civil war pride this is not surprising.
According to Aunt Addie John Lollis b: 1824 married Anne Town. He was the son of Jacob Lollis and Frances, also from Georgia.Jacob was the son of John Lollis and Agnes, all from Ogalthorpe Georgia. However, according to Mormon records and other family historians, there is a problem.
John Lollis was married to Anne T Town. His father was Jacob Lawless who was born in Delaware in 1795 and married Frances (Carolina) Leggett in 1823 in Oglathorpe, Georgia. However, Jacob married a second time in 1844 an Elizabeth Made (or something along those lines). He married her and died in Indiana. His father, John Lawless (or perhaps Jacob) Lawless is reported to have married an Agnes. However, there were two Agnes listed in the family records, an Agnes Spurlock and an Agnes Laird. His father was William Lawless who was from Ireland, as was his mother. It is likely, now that I look at it, that John/Jacob was born in the British Isles.According to a family member in Canada who is now deceased, his wife was Agnes Laird or Scotland.
It is difficult to know which Lollis/Lawless is being talked about here concerning Agnes in that there were a great many John Lollis's.If his son was Lawless, it is likely his was to.Which explains why I can not find him.
