hello eunice. my gggrand-father was william longbones, born in eastrington, yorkshire in 1821. He was christened on 30th December 1821. He was the older brother of George. His parents, William and Mary (formerly Whitaker) married on 23rd August 1813.
William (junior) married Elizabeth Atkinson on 1st January 1844 at the parish church, St Michael le Belfrey, York. He was then a groom. He subsequently became a publican for a short period. By 1861 he was a cab proprietor still living in York. He died on 20th October 1882 aged 60. His widow carried on with the business until she died when it passed to their daughter Eliza.
I'm pretty sure of all these facts as I've got William's marriage certificate and death certificate. What happened to your gggrand-father George? Susan
