Here are my grandfather, George William Longmire, Sr.'s siblings' names. Brothers: Ira (pronounced Awry), James and Robert/Bob (Bob supposedly moved to California) and sisters: Veda of Denison, TX who married a Hill and Margaret of Florida. I think their mother's name was Lois, but they were all orphaned during the Great Depression. My grandfather (George) and his 2 brothers Ira and James were in the army during WWII. Since they were orphaned and living in poverty during the war, the story that has been told over the years is that my grandfather and his brothers forged documents so they could enlist in the army in order to have a place to call home and food. Boy did they have a rude awakening! I do not know where James or Ira ended up being stationed, but my grandfather fought in the Battle of Normandy on Omaha Beach. Something my father and grandfather were very proud of - he survived the battle in one piece! My father George William Longmire, Jr.'s sisters are Darlene, Vickie, Brenda and Peggy. His only brother (James Ira Longmire) was still born.
