Hello James, Thanks for the response. The pewter club is on the verge of "dethroning" Bartholomew as a pewterer. Very few items have been found. But, he is listed as a pewterer in some of the most revered pewter books dedicated to the American pewter maker. The Mark is two "BL" on either side of some device BL ? BL. I have acquired two of these pieces with the identical mark document to Bartholomew.
You have confirmed my suspicions that if it was a Longsteet, it may have been a namesake much later. I know my American pewter fairly well, and it is not the design of the pre-revolutionary pewter. Can you tell me more of this Nephew? Thanks again. If you want I can try to Photograph the plates and mark for you as well as the documentation in the pewter books.
