Nathaniel Lookingbill was born 1815 in Tennesse, died in leon County, Texas in 1869. He married Ailsy?/Alsey?They have four children: William born 1846 Mary Catherine born 1852 James Richard born 1854 Martha born 1858
I haven't found records on William, James, or Martha.
It appears Mary Catherine married William I. Anderson (born 1852-died 1926). Their descendants live in Freestone county, Texas.
Now look at Susannah Collins Elgin Lookingbill story.
Susannah__?__ Collins Elgin Lookingbill born 1821-1900
Susannah ? was born 10/2/1821 in Green County, Alabama. She died 6/9/1900 in Leon County, Texas
On June 30, 1855, Mrs. S.E. Collins married Abner Elgin (born 1829).They had 4 children:
James D. born 4/6/1856 Abner Thomas born 3/?/1858 Callie born 1862 Sara Francis (Sally) born 1867
The 1860 Census shows Susannah Elgin and 3 Collins Children and 2 Elgin sons.1 of the Colins children was probably Mary Lueliza (born 1851). I don't know the identity of the other 2.
The 1880 census shows Susannah Elgin Lookingbill and 3 sisters: Callie, Maude and Sally.
Callie was born in 1862 and died in 1927. Sally or Sara Francis was born in 1867 and died in 1927.It appears that Callie and Sally were the children of Abner Elgin. This is only reference made to Maude.
Sometime prior to the 1880 census, Susannah had married Nathaniel Lookingbill.Evidently, Nathaniel and Susannah did not have any children. They could not have been married long.By the time they were married, Nathaniel was in his 50s and Susannah was in her late 40s.However, Callie and Sally took the name of Lookingbill.
Records of children: William
Mary Catherine married William I Anderson (born 1851-died 1926) Their decendants live in Freestone County, Texas.
Mary Lueliza married Richard Henson Dunkin about 1870 in Leon County, Texas
James D. married Kiziah Shoemaker (born 1856-?).
Abner Thomas ?
Callie married George Lee Cooper (born 1861-died 1941) They are buried in Antioch Cemetery east of Fairfield, Texas.
Sally married James Edward Conaway (born 1862-died 1937)
This information has been gathered from several sources and put together based on that information and the birth years of the children.
I grew up being told that Callie(my grandmother) and Mary Catherine were half sisters. If the information provided by Lyn Rose is correct, then they were not half sisters, but step-sisters.
Some of the above contradicts other previous information. My assumptions are based on the dates involved.
