This is not a name that I am researching but I thought I'd see what I could find for you Going backwards-- The 1901 and 1911 Census are availabe at www.automatedgenealogy.com In 1911 your family is found in Halifax Co., Spryfield poll district #37 Surname - Lopy --all Baptist, all born NS,all African Georgeheadborn June 1862 Elesebeth wifeborn Dec 1872 Franksonborn May 1891 Winfreddauborn Mar 1893 Fredadau born Sept 1895 Sidney son born Jan 1901 Cecilson born Jun 1904 Anniedau born Jun 1908 Stanilyson born Mar 1911
In 1901 this family is recorded in Halifax Ward 5 dist E9 page 14 & 15 (they may not have necessarily moved-- the boudaries of the districts probably just changed)

George Rhead born June 21, 1868 Elizabethwife born December 25, 1876 Frank H born May 12, 1890 Winifred dau born May 12, 1892 A.dau born September 9, 1895 George S son born Jan 20, 1900
I can't find any records that say definitively who George's parents were but the 1881 Census which is available at www.familysearch.org lists the following family Halifax Co., Ward 5, District 9F, div. 1, page 181
Sarah Loppee widow African age 43 b. NS, charwoman, Baptist George Loppeeson, African age 17, b. NS Mary LoppeedauAfrican age 14,b. NS
The age for George is a bit off from the other Census returns but that is pretty common. There were only a couple of families with this surname in Nova Scotia, both in Halifax and I think the above is likely your George.
I couldn't find a marriage record for George and Elizabeth but I did find one for a Mary E Lopie and Rupert Jones married 1891 in Halifax Co. This can be found at www.novascotiagenealogy.ca Mary's parents are given as John and Sarah so you can be pretty certain that these were George's parents as well. In 1901 Sarah Lopie was 62 residing with a Richard Jones age 27 widower and Arthur Jones age 4, Richard's son.(There is a notation on the Census that Richard is a transcription mistake and should be Rupert) Hope this has helped Burdette
