I've been looking for information on the origins of the Lorah family in the US.My father tells me the following, and I was wondering if anybody could verify the information: The name was originally Loreau or Loreaux and is French in origin. Two Loreau Brothers, Emanuelle and ?????, came over from the Alsace Lorraine region with Lafayette to fight in the American Revolution. The two brothers settled in the Pennsylvania Dutch region near the current Allentown area. The French name was not well thought of in that region, and was thus changed to the very German sounding Lohra. At some point the name got transposed to the current Lorah that we all know. Also there is supposedly a bitter rivalry between these two main braches of the family. Can anybody verify or add to this?
