Was looking at some photocopes of notes taken from a typescript of some genealogy work done by Josephine Frost in 1919. Typescript was located at the NYGBS.Found your Jotham. He was the son of James Loree [born ?, died May 13, 1834] and James' wife Rebecca Osborn [1730-1814, apparently buried at the Old Presbyterian Cemetery, Rahway, NJ]. James Loree was the son of John Loree [1712- April 22, 1775] and his wife Hannah Brown [1715-1972].John Loree left Southold Long Island with his two brothers Job and Samuel.Job and Samuel settled in Mendham, Morris County, NJ but John seemed to own 300 acres nearer Morristown, Morris County, NJ.
Now back to Jotham. He seems to have had two wives.Apparently Mrs. Frost could not locate the name of Jotham's wife who is the mother of his two children.
Children of JOTHAM LOREE and UNNAMED SPOUSE are: i. JAMES LOREE, b. October 03, 1797; d. August 01, 1856. ii. MARIA LOREE.
Jotham served in the New Jersey MilitiaService is recorded in Records of the officers and men of NJ. In wars 1791-1815. Trenton, NJ. 1909. (369p.):20.Military service: Bet. September 05 - December 04, 1814, Private, Capt. John S. Darcy's Infantry Company, Morris County, Second Regiment, NJ Detailed Militia.
Jotham married (2) NANCY ROFF April 05, 1816 in Somerset County, NJ. They were married by the Rev. Jacob de Groot. It was a third marriage for Nancy Roff. She was the widow of Male Wright [first husband] and Moses Rogers [second husband.]
Unfortunately Mrs. Frost does not document many of her sources so most of this information would require additional verification.
