Alexandre Maire and Mary Anne Lorentz had one son, Frederick born in 1844 in Altkirk, Alsace, France.
Alexandre and Mary Anne immigrated to the US in 1857 on the Steamship Fulton arriving in New York City, June 16, 1857.
They stayed one year in New York State and then moved to Basco, Hancock County, Illinois. There, Frederick married Hannah Fisher, born in Indiana. After several children were born, they moved to York, Virginia and then to Newark, New Jersey. (The entire family moved together, that is, Alexander, Mary Anne, Frederick and Hannah, and children).
After Newark, I believe they all (Alexandre, Mary Anne, Frederick and family) moved back to Hancock County, Illinois.
In the mid to late 1880’s, Alexandre and Mary Anne Maire moved back to France. They both died there in the 1890s. They were accompanied by their granddaughter, Marie. Marie later married a French Army Officer, Cyprion Bedouin. (I had an uncle named Cyprion Bedouin Crum-he was always called “CB”).
My father's name was Jason Lorentz Crum.
