I found my copies of the marriage bonds for Abijah Whitt Jr and Polly Lorton, Abijah Whitt & Elizabeth Elswick, and Abijah Whitt and Nancy Compton.I copied the actual bond from the box in the back of the Montgomery Co courthouse, not just a record from the book.
ABIJAH WHITT AND NANCY COMPTON:
Outside:A. Whitt M. Bond 18th Septr 1820 Inside: Know all men by these presents that we Abijah Whitt and Joseph Compton are held and firmly bound unto Thomas M. Randolph Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia in the sum of one hundred fifty dolars which payment will and truly is be made to our said Governor or his successors for the use of the commonwealth we bond ourselves our heirs? jointly and severally (?) firmly by these presents sealed with our seals and dated this 18th day of September 1820.
The condition of the above obligations is such that whereas the above bound Abijah Whitt hath this day obtained a license for his marriage with Nancy Compton now if there shall be no legal cause to obstruct the same, then this obligation is to be void else is ? in full force and virtue.

Outside:Abijah Whitt MBOct 22nd 1792 Inside: Know all men by these presents that we ? ? Richard Whitt are held and firmly bound unto his Excellency the governor of Virginia for the time being and his successors in the sum of fifty pounds current money of Virginia the payment of which will and truly to be made we ? ? our heirs extrs and Adm firmly by these presents ? with over seals and dated this 22nd day of October 1792.
The Condition of the above obligation is such that whereas the above bound Abijah Whitt has this day attained a license of his marriage with Elisabeth Elswick Daughter of John Elswick of this county ? if there should be no legal cause to obstruct the said marriage then the above obligations is to be paid else to remain in force force ?Abijah Whitt,Richard WhittTeste Charles L?

Abijah Whitt Jr Philip Hogin are held and firmly bound unto his Excellency James Barbour Esquire Governor or Chief Magistrate of the commonwealth of Virginia in the just and full sum of one hundred and fifty dollars to which payment will and truly to be made to our said governor and his successors for the use of the commonwealth.We bind ourselves our heirs execurotrs and administrators jointly and severally firmly by these presents sealed with our seals and dated this 27th day of Septr 1813.
The condition of the above obligation is such that whereas the above bound Abijah Whitt Jr hath this day abtained a license for his marriage with Polly Lorton - ? -.If there shall be no lawful cause to obstruct said marriage then the above obligation to be void else to remain in full force and virtue.Teste E. NOTE:I'm sure the confusion regarding Abijah vs. Archibald marrying Polly Lorton stems from what is written on the outside of this paper, however, the inside clearly states that Abijah is entering the marriage bond and the signature is clear.
