Many thanks for the quick reply and taking the time to try to find a link to my GGrandmother Mahulda.
Could I run by you the reasons I believe Daniel is her father?Daniel Losh is the only Losh who is 'head of family' with a daughter Mahulda's age in the 1830 and 1840 census records of Rockingham County. Actually he has 2 females in her age bracket in those records.
Mahulda was born in 1827 and married in 1844 to John Crummett. So those are the only censuses she could be in as a 'Losh'.Another interesting fact is Mahulda and John's second son is named Daniel--relevant to naming patterns used in those days. Their first son is named John.
Her death record or obituary does not name her father or mother. If my grandfather had been the informant or wrote the obituary I know it would have been there. As you know, this is the frustraton of genealogy research.
I would be very interested in your thoughts about my theory.
