I have been researching the history of our family for more than 20 years. I have a very old book called "Picturesque Ayrshire". It was published in Scotland before 1900. I has a penand ink drawing of Loudoun Castle and some history on the Loudoun Clan. It was my impression that the original land bestowed to the family Lambrinus was larger and that Loudon Hill was only a part of it. That is essentually what the book says. Also the King who bestowed it was said to be David I.
See the history section of the Loudoun Castle Web site.
I just today returned from the 3rd Louden Family reunion in Burlington Kentucky. There were about 25 Loudens attending. We are all descendents of one William Louden who raised his family in Rabbit Hash Kentucky. William died at age 55 and his wife Savannah (Bailey) raised the 6 children until she died 10 years later. At that time 5 of the 6 children moved to Clinton Indiana. One (John Louden remained behing and raised his family in Rabbit Hash. One of his 3 sons Harry became the famous Captain Harry Louden who was a legend in his own time on the Ohio River. He piloted the Delta Queen, the Mississippi Queen and many other well known river boats. His Son Shelby Louden is the host of these family reunions. My grandfather was Charles Lee Louden and was the only other one of Williams 6 childeren th have children. If you think you may be connected to this line please let me know.
