Looking for the following ancestors of Thomas Lowry (or Lowery/Lowrey), born 1760-1780, unknown where (possibly Ireland, Maryland or NC) and his wife Frances "Fanny" Forestt, born 1781, NC. Most if not all of their children we know of so far were born in North Carolina between 1800-1820. These Lowry family members migrated from Guilford County, NC to Maury County, TN in the 1820s timeframe, then to Shawneetown, Gallatin County, IL (some before 1830, some after 1840) and on to various counties in southern Illinois and Missouri after 1850. Through DNA, we have discovered that our earliest Thomas Lowry, born 1760-1780, is either a brother to, or nephew to John "Crip" Lowry, born 1756, Scotland, who served in the 7th Maryland Regiment in the Revolutionary War, where he lost a leg at the Battle of Camden. We are in the "teal" group of Lowrys in the Lowery DNA project database.
If you are related to any of the folks above, we'd love to swap tree leaves with you! The spelling of the name within our family tree varies from Lowry to Lowrey to Lowery but most of ours wound up under the LOWRY spelling.
