Thank you very much Collaine, that is great news!
You have reported what I had suspected.I've been tracing everyone that I can find from early Virginia with the name of Elias LOWTHER.There are nine in the records. My goal was to establish which of these moved to Carroll County, Indiana in the late 1820s.That Elias LOWTHER is the father of two of my gggfathers. Most of the nine can be eliminated as being too old, too young or having a well defined family that did not move to Indiana.Elias, son of Thomas was the only one that remained.Recently I found out about the Elias LOWTHER who married Susannah MORRISON in 1819.On the IGI I found that they had a son, A. G. LOWTHER, born in Harrison County in 1822.Since my gggfather, Arnold, was born on 22 Jan 1822 in Harrison County I felt I had a possible match.I just didn't know what to do with Margaret BEAN or HATTABAUGH that is sometimes reported nor what to do with Andrew or Daniel.
I have been unable so far to establish the source for the IGI, but I'm still trying.Could you tell me how you determined that Elias had two marriages? That is important information in trying to document this family that has taken 15 years to unravel.I have the family for Susannah MORRISON.She is also a Lowther!
I believe the family of Elias of Carroll may have been fairly large.I'm still trying to figure out who was part of it for sure.
Thank you very much,Jim
