Anna Marie Loy was born ca. 1728 in Berks Co. PA, daughter of Johannes Laye and Anna Maria Fechtor, who were both born in Germany. She appears to be the only child born in the US, as all of her known siblings were born in Germany.
She married John George Sharp, son of Aaron & Anna Maria Margaret Sharp. Anna Marie Loy was the mother of at least 4 children: Aaron (ca.1750), Isaac Peter (9 Mar 1750), George (21 Jul 1755)and William W. Sharp (ca. 1765).
John George Sharp died in 1789 in Orange Co. NC, but whether he left a widow is unknown, as I do not have a death date recorded for Anna Marie.
She was not the daughter of Martin Laye, but rather was his sister, according to my information. I do have some doubt that she was the daughet of Anna Maria Fechtor, but since there are no dates listed I cannot be sure. Perhaps Johannes Laye had a second wife?
Unfortunately, this information lists no sources. Most was the work of my grandmother, who didn't know the value of listing sources in her research. I do know, however, that Martin Loy owned land in Drapers Meadow, VA, adjacent to Aaron and George Sharp. In the book "Know Your Relatives," by Genevieve Peters, it states that (around 1900) a descendant of Martin's, Noah Loy, stated that Martin Loy had a brother in law named Sharpe. That being said, researchers are inclined to theorize that she may have been his sister. She had children born around the same generation as Martin's children.
