Hi Dick, Just a thought, do you know the name of Mary's Indian aunt your mom remembers seeing in Shoreham?I live about 20 mins. fromShoreham, don't know if I could dig anything up or not. I have also long expected that the Indian blood came from Lucy Donor -- just no proof!I was always told by my father and grandmother that Ellen (and thus her siblings as well) was a full blood. However, if that was true then Thomas Sr. and Lucy would have both had to been full bloods -- doesn't seem likely with a name like Loya. That is, if they really were Abenaki. If they were the surname that they were given, or adopted themselves, would almost surely be of French origin. They would also have most likely been converted to Catholicism.I do know from my grandmother that Ellen was a devout Catholic. Also, I need to find out from Louie if he is sure that the Indian(s) in the family were Abenaki. I was confused when he said he got the info. from a chief of the Rhode Island group, as I didn't believe that there were Abenaki groups that far south. I've got to get this straight before I attempt to talk to Homer St. Francis.
