Redding Jefferson Loyless, was the son of Henry Loyless, and Lavinia Carter. He was born September 11, 1808 Warren Co, Georgia, and died January 8, 1870/71 in LaGrange, Texas. He married September 19, 1848 "Sweet Home", Lavaca Co, Texas Mary Word Greenwood born November 5, 1824 and died 1856 in LaGrange, Texas. She was the daughter of John Greenwood, and Joiney Hooper (early Texas pioneers before the Texas Revolution).The childen of Redding and Mary are: 1) John Henry born July 8, 1849 "Sweet Home" Lavaca Co, Texas md Donna Etta Hendon on December 18, 1824 died April 1, 1912 Port Lavaca, Texas 2) James Hardin Loyless born November 23,1850 LaGrange, Texas and Died March 4,1906 San Antonio, Texas md 1st Jane Foster Haynes md 2nd Texanna Pledger. 3) Sarah Missouri born 1842 md Thomas Menefee Hodges 4) Emily Ann Georgia born 1855 died 1861 of an illness at the Greenwood ranch.
In 1841 Redding killed a man in a duel (sword). He left Georgia incognito, using the alias; David Burchalter, for Baltimore, Washington DC, and New York City, and then sailed for Galveston, Texas. Redding and Mary(Greenwood) Loyless made their home on the corner of Fannin and Franklin street in LaGrange, Texas. The home is no longer standing. 3) Sarah Missouri born 1842
