My mother-in-law's maiden name is Lucio and so I've begun to do some research into the surname as part of my wife's heritage.I haven't had a great deal of success as of yet delving into the Lucio line, but I'll relay what info I have.
My wife's grandfather was Antonio Lucio. He was born on April 23rd about 1913 in Santa Maria, Texas. He was a migrant worker and lay minister in Asembia de Dios.He married Dominga Salazar (b. 5/12/1914-d. 5/1998) on April 4, 1931 in Yorktown, Texas. They had eleven children together eventually settling in the Austin area where both Antonio and Dominga lived their final years.
In talking with Dominga shortly before she passed away, she relayed to me that Antonio's father was named Guadalupe Ramirez Lucio and his mother was Rosa Ramirez. Antonio also had four sisters:Erlinda, Ester, Maria and Lydia (Naomi).
Most all of Antonio's offspring have settled in the Austin area and all stayed in Texas.
Family lore has the Lucio line coming from along the border in the Valley and current State Senator Eddie Lucio (D-Valley) bares a striking resemblance to the late Antonio.Reportedly Eddie's a distant cousin, but nobody seems to remember how.
If any of this rings a bell with you or your records, please feel free to reply.
