Randy, If you really are interested---I am willing to share what I have with you. I tried to contact you previously but with no success.
Some where along the "Old Military Hiway" near Los Indios and and present day Brownsville, Texas---Regino Lucio Ayala b. abt 1810, had a Rancho, it may have been called El Calavos or something like it, during the 1840-1860's. He was married twice---his first wife was Ana Maria Zamarripa of San Fernando, Tamps. and his second wife Maria de Santos Vela (de Leon) b. 19 June 1814. I do not know which if any of his children were of the first marriage with Ana Maria. The children of the second marriage (9 Oct. 1835) were:
Teodoro b. 1848 (My Great Grandfather and also that of Texas State Senator Eddie Lucio Jr.)
Felipe Maria Antonia Regino
According to family tradition Regino was descendant of a Sicilian by the name DeVito Lucio b. abt 1750---one of many Italians and Portuguese who lend their services to the Spanish Crown for an apportunity to make thier fortunes in New Spain.
Anyway, Teodoro Lucio Vela marries Catarina Garza Trevino b. 27 Oct 1857 in abt. Nov. 1873. Their children were:
Regino Teodoro (The Senator's Grandfather) Guadalupe ? (may have been a child of a second marriage) Maria de los Santos Maria Catarina (My Maternal Grandmother and the youngest) Daniel (died very young---pre-teen or teenager)
After the death of my great grandmother, Teodoro Lucio Vela marries again. I could not make the name out on the family group sheet.
