It just so happens that one of the list members from the Lucas web site posted this response to the article. Hope it answers some of your questions.
The double wedding announcement is not what one might expect: It was not a brother-sister Lundgren marrying a brother-sister Waugh.Amanda LUNDGREN and Alfred D. LUNDGREN were brother and sister, children of Andrew Severn LUNDGREN and Gustava SWENSON (or SWANSON).The pianist was the youngest child and sister Ella (b.abt 1888).Andrew and Gustava were both of Sweden. They came to Iowa from Minnesota between 1883 and 1885.In the Lucas County, Iowa Marriages volume 7 p491:
”Alfred Lundgren age 28 first marriage born Minn residence Chariton a carpenter, father Andrew S. Lundgren, mother Gustava Waugh [sic], and Zoerilda Waugh age 17 born Monroe Co, residence Chariton first marriage, father John E. Waugh and Martha Arnold, on 27 Feb 1907, in Chariton by C.F. Ward MG a Christian Minister witnesses Anna Lundgren and Pearl Martin.” (Gustava “Waugh” should have read SWENSON.)
Interestingly, Zoerilda WAUGH who married Alfred LUNDGREN was the daughter of John E. WAUGH and his first wife Martha ARNOLD.John E. WAUGH was the groom in this double marriage. He was born about 1856 in Indiana the son of James Harvey and Rebecca (MILLER) WAUGH.Zoerilda was born abt 1890 in Monroe County, Iowa.In the Lucas County, Iowa Marriages volume 7 p490:
“John E. Waugh age 51 second marriage born Indiana residence Chariton a farmer, father J. H. Waugh, mother Rebecca Miller, and Amanda Lundgren age 24 first marriage, born Minn. residence Chariton, father Andrew Lundgren, mother Gustava Swanson, on 27 Feb 1907, in Chariton by C.F. Ward MG witnesses A.S. Lundgren and E.H. Best.”
Therefore, this double wedding was a brother and sister LUNDGREN marrying a father and daughter WAUGH combination.Surprise!
As an additional note, the witnesses for Alfred and Zoerilda (WAUGH) LUNDGREN were Anna LUNDGREN (not sure but perhaps sister of Albert) and Pearl MARTIN.Pearl MARTIN became the wife of C. Arthur LUNDGREN on 26 Feb 1908, in Chariton, Lucas County.Pearl was the daughter of Reuben and Kalista (HOLMES) MARTIN of Lucas County, Iowa.
