John and Mary Lusher-Ohio 1840 and 1830
I have began investigating my family again. In my last posting here, I was under the impression my g-g-g-grandfather, John (K?) Lusher was born in England. However, he and his family are listed in the 1850 Madison County, Missouri U.S. Census and John senior is reported as being 52 years old and being born in Virginia (Mary A, his wife, was 49 and also born in Virginia). The children listed in the 1850 Madison County, MO census were born in Ohio (John Junior-22, George-19, Elizabeth-16, Fleming-14, James-11 [my g-g-grandad], and Mary E.-9). I am confident there were 2 older brothers that were not listed in the 1850 census, Julius R. and William M. Lusher. I found 1840 and 1830 Ohio census data. The 1840 U.S. Census shows a John Lusher in Lawrence County, Decatur Township. The number and age range of males and females listed in the 1840 Ohio census strongly indicate that this was the same family. The 1830 U.S. Census shows a John Lusher in Gallia County, Huntington Township. Again, the number and age ranges of of the males and females listed indicate that this was the same family. Unfortunately, there was another John Lusher in the 1830 Ohio U.S. Census but he was in Ross County, Springfield Township...several counties away from Gallia County, and the number of folks listed is inconsistent with my family. Does anyone have any more detailed info on John and Mary Lusher while they were in Ohio? I'm stuck there. Thanks.
Mike Lusher
